Robert Preston Wade, 93, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Guardian Care of Scotland Neck.

Bob was born February 16, 1918 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Warren Wheeler Wade and Rose Elizabeth Werner Wade. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Warren L. Wade and Paul Wade.

Bob served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. During his career, he has trained police dogs and retired as a transit bus driver for the state of California. After retirement, he loved to travel the world.

He is survived by two great-nieces, Terry Webb and her husband, Herbert ''Boogie'' Webb, and their children, of Roanoke Rapids, and Bonnie Kaiser and her husband, Ron Voll, and their children, of Kansas; two great-nephews, Paul Kaiser and his children of Minn. and Scott Kaiser of Roanoke Rapids.

A special thanks is given to Guardian Care of Scotland Neck and United Hospice of Eastern Carolina.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Wade’s service to his country. Burial will be later in Quantico National Cemetery.
